Producers of organic, exotic, and other specialty foods are finding a
growing market at consumer groups and food shows. This new trend has
been fueled by the growing preference for healthy, natural and ethically
produced foods, and growing consumer interest in global cuisines and
unique flavor experiences. It is in this context that more than 29,000
professionals from the specialty food and beverage industry gathered for
the 68th Summer Fancy Food Show.
Fancy Food Shows are where the specialty food and beverage industry
come together for product discovery, networking, trend identification, and
education. More than 2,400 national and international companies in more
than 40 food and beverage specialty categories were exhibited at the
fair. The fair is organized by the Specialty Food Association (SFA), and was
sold out, from June 23 to 25, at the Jacob Javits Center, in New York City. In
addition to creators and buyers, the fair attracted industry affiliates, press,
influencers, investors and trend watchers thanks to the diversity and
quality of products on display, thought-provoking talks and other events
such as the SFA gala, local tourism and other sessions. It was with honor
and commitment that MCA – Mozambican Community Association – USA
Diaspora, embraced the invitation and challenge from partners USAID,
ABSA, Catalyze, Prosper Africa and others, with the aim of representing
Mozambican companies and entrepreneurs (Casa Manica, Gutsamba,
Gorongosa Natural Products, and Matharia Empreendimentos) through
exposure, promotion, search for opportunities, identification and capture
of interest from partnerships and potential buyers of its products for the
American market.In summary, the most talked about products during the
fair by represented company were the following:
